Safeguarding Support Officer
Introduction
This occupation is found in a range of public, private, and voluntary sector organisations to support statutory safeguarding responsibilities to be fulfilled and demonstrate how organisations work to protect an individual’s health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling individuals to live free from harm, abuse and neglect.
An employee in this occupation will be responsible for responding and triaging, initial safeguarding concerns. This will include investigating the concern, seeking advice as needed and signposting and or referring to the most appropriate person or organisation.

Who is this apprenticeship right for?
This Safeguarding Support Programme is ideal for those starting out in an safeguarding role, whether a new hire joining a people team or an existing employee stepping into safeguarding responsibilities for the first time. It suits anyone who wants a structured, funded route into a recognised safeguarding career without needing prior qualifications or experience.
Employer Contribution
£350 for non-levy employers (Non-Levy contribution applies to employers with an annual wage bill of under £3m and enrolling apprentices that are aged 22 and above upon apprenticeship start date).
How will this be delivered?
This apprenticeship is delivered through a combination of work-based learning to perform the duties of an apprentice and achieve the knowledge, skills and behaviour required for the role. When ready to finish your apprenticeship, you will sit an end point assessment – but don’t worry you will have loads of support to prepare for this.
